Music Monday!

I am currently obsessed with Bruno Mars - It Will Rain. It is such a beautiful song and very touching for my current relationship.

I first heard the song at the end of 'Breaking Dawn' and have been in love with it ever since. Bruno Mars has such an incredible voice. So soft. Must listen!

Happy Friday!

More than likely you are exactly where you need to be. I know this is hard to realize sometimes but you really are. Everything works out exactly how it is supposed to. At frist you do not understand or why but just be patient, it will all come together. : )

My little rant for the day. This has been a long stressful week for myself. Only thing keeping me together this week is this Big Apple Red, OPI Nail Polish. I have on is making me feel bossy. How has your week been? What are your plans for the weekend?

This is my last weekend off for awhile. The next 3 weekends in a row I will be working and super busy with Super Bowl & NFL Experience going on in our building.

Tonight I am going to the opening of REPRESENT with my grandmother. This exhibit at the Indiana State Museum presents works of art by African-Americans from Indiana. I am really excited to be apart of the task force planning committee. Should be pretty cool & maybe I can sneak in a few cocktails too ;)

I also for sure want to finish the 3rd book in the Hunger Games series, Mockingjay. Other than that I really have no plans! I reallly need to clean out my closet and donate some clothes, lol to make room for some new ones!

Here are a few weekend reads I sugeest you totally take a look at.

Check out Krystal's post, Suit Yourself! loveee all these match ups!

Last for sure check out Double Your Pleasure. I know I am guilty of this every time. This post goes into discussing how just by double checking you can save so much money each year. Every little bit adds up. Take note!

Well I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Hopefully I get a chance to Devour Downtown before it ends on the 22nd (SUNDAY!)

XOXO

Lucky Thursday

I'm titling this post 'Lucky Thursday' simply because yesterday I was not so lucky. I dropped my phone, my work phone at that, in the toilet : / NOT OKAY! but my day has turned around. I let it sit in rice over night. And to answer your question, YES, this actually did work! Although, there is a slight rattle in my phone from rice that is stuck in there. haha. Anywho...

I can't remember whose blog page I was browsing on when I happened to come across this wonderful jewelry site JewelMint.

Obsessed with the vintage wallpaper, Kate’s Etro blazer and those Windsdor Earrings (Obviously).
I'm guessing Kate Bosworth is their spokesperson because she is all over their site. (I just read she actually designs the work) She stated, "JewelMint encourages individuality. We are committed to making fashion accessible and exciting to everyone."

You create a profile then they recommend pieces that cater to your specific style. It is actually pretty cool and to top it off all of their pieces are $29.99 and include free shipping. It doesn't get much better than that?

Take a look at their blog also.

Enjoy.

Rolling in the deep

I know it is not Music Monday but this seriously is so cool. Plus I love the song. Anddd I loveee when I find a good cover & here are a ton of them all mashed up into one!!

"Luc Bergeron AKA Zapatou mashes up 71  covers of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” from all around the world.
A full list of links to the original covers can be found in the video’s description.
(As you’re watching this and enjoying yourself keep in mind that this is the exact sort of thing that PIPA and SOPA seek to prohibit. Politicians are backpeddling in droves, but the fight continues. Take action now.)

Devour Downtown

Here in Indianapolis we have this fabulous promotional deal called, Devour Downtown. It is a bi-yearly two-week long event where over 30 restaurants in downtown Indianapolis offer a special 3-course dinner and lunch menu for $30 per person.

This is an amazing deal because you get to try some our most wonderful restaurants for reasonable pirces but make sure you bring your appetite with you. Last year I tried Fogo De Chao for the first time. I would not normally spend $60 on a gourmet buffet style meal, I can just not eat that much. But with Devour Downtown you can check out some pretty expensive restaurants in the city for a reasonable price.

MLK Jr.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

What did you do on your Martin Luther King Jr. Day? Did you have the day off and lounge around or did you give back to your community? I saw a tweet yesterday that stated, "We commemorate one of the hardest working freedom fighters in histroy by not working. Long live America." @OrangieCalderon

This is so true. I tried my best to get up and get out. I tried donating some thing to a local Christian Center bu it was closed so we took them to Goodwill, this is better than nothing.

Happy Friday the 13th!

Sooo what are everyone’s plans for the long weekend, (for some, not I of course… even though I think I’m going to take Monday off JUST BECAUSE)!
My original plans were to go to Chicago, IL to visit some very close college friends of mine. I miss them so much. But of course Mother Nature has taken her course & it has snowed here & there. I still might try and make that trip though; it is only about a 3 hour drive from me (depending on traffic). I do want to hit Zara & Akira since Indianapolis has NEITHER!
If I don’t make it up to Chicago I have a long list of things I want to get done around the house.
1. Clean out closet (sell/donate things I don’t wear)
2.  Finish reading, Catching Fire. (the 2nd book in The Hunger Games series) Pick up the 3rd book.
3.  Go grocery shopping, with all plans to start this cleanse on Tuesday!
4. Mani/Pedi (important even though you aren't showing your toes!) or I might do them myself. I might try this style since I did just purchase Sephora by OPI nail design pen. A gold one also!
5. Make a budget up for my Grandmother. She just recently retired (for the 2nd time)
6. Try twisting my natural hair to make the locks longer & neater like my girlfriend Brynn does. (might have to have a skype date w/ her for a lesson.)
7. Go see Beauty & The Beast in 3D (maybe, 3D hurts my head sometimes)
8. Make a trip to a few of my fav stores that are having some great sales
-          Nine West 25% off flats!
-          Saks has officially began their semi-annual Consolidation Sale!

What are your plans for the weekend? Anything exciting? Or just going to cuddle up with a good book or have a movie weekend. The winter is the best time to catch up on reading and movies you have been wanting to see.

Let's get organized!

Since we are already towards the end of the second week in 2012 I know I am a tad bit late. But better late than never! Since things have picked up for me in the office, especially with the Superbowl quickly approaching  < 23 Days > it is definitely time for me to become more organized.
I am already a pretty organized person with all my lists and plans but it won’t help to take that extra step. Here are a few of my favorite planners for 2012 that I need to choose from & soon.
The Coach agenda is def. my top pick as of right now. I am just debating if I want to spend $198 on an agenda. I like the purple agenda better also (since that is my faovrite color if you cannot tell).
Find it here.

Next is an agenda that I found on MIMI+MEG. I love it but still unsure. There are plenty of colors to choose from which I do like that aspect of the agenda.

I also love this Kate Spade agenda! But this leaves me in the same predicamentas the Coach agenda, it is $195. So we shall see  which I choose. But I guess I should hurry up and make up my mind.

What are your thoughts? Which one do you like the best?

I also need to get oragnized with my blog. I know I have left you hanging for a few days. I just have not been able to think of much to blog about this week. I promise next week will be much better. I also have been irritated because I am a perfectionist and I know it will take time for me to learn all the tricks and trades of blogging. If any of you could assist I would have looved to collage this post of agenda's. In my opinion it makes for a much clearned and well oragnized look.

What collage program do you use on your blog or pictures?

Blessings in Disguise

Most of my major disappointments have turned out to be blessings in disguise. So whenever anything bad does happen to me, I kind of sit back and feel, well, if I give this enough time, it’ll turn out that this was good, so I shouldn’t worry about it too much.

Music Monday.

Since this is my very first Music Monday post I wanted to start it off right and recognize someone from my hometown, an up & coming artist from Indianapolis, IN.

You probably have heard her incredible soulful voice on Wale's track, The Cloud. Check it out here.

The Indianapolis Star just recently reported an article on her & a few other local artist. See below.

Tiara Thomas is a bundle of intersections and contradictions. Few musicians share her ability to glide effortlessly between angelic singing and agitated rapping, and Thomas accompanies herself on acoustic guitar throughout.

She's a self-described "dork" who will watch a TV marathon of "Lord of the Rings" movies, but her looks landed her a modeling job in a national ad campaign for American Eagle Outfitters.
Thomas' lyrics can be playful to the point of rhyming about blue jeans (as she does in a song that's heard in American Eagle stores). Elsewhere, her words describe driving a car while clutching a gun's ammunition clip.
The Ball State student and Lawrence North High School graduate doesn't pretend to be shaped by rough-and-tumble experiences.

You can read more about Tiara Thomas on the Indy Star Website.

Follow Tiara on Twitter!

Also check out her Youtube Channel.

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday!! The holidays are over & 2012 is here. Now what?
Isn’t it funny how whenever you have shortened weeks at work they always seem to be longer? Well lucky for most of you, you actually get you enjoy your weekend. I will be stuck in the office all weekend watching over my gymnastics event and catching up on some work. Thankfully this will be my last event until Superbowl 2012 gets here and NFLx is in our building. Should be exciting/extremely busy time for myself. But hopefully this weekend I will also get to a little leisure reading! I am going to start reading, The Hunger Games, this weekend. I am super excited I saw the preview for the movie so I wanted to finish it before the movie comes out.
I am going to try my best to squeeze the gym in there somewhere in my busy schedule, although, I am already trying to talk myself out of going.  <shame on me>
What are some of your plans for the weekend? Any goals you are trying to reach or things to get done?
If you are just going to be relaxing around the house here are a few of my favorite blogs to take a look at while I am bored (or even while I am busy. Shhh).
Here are some of my friends:
What are some of your favorite blogs?
I can’t wait to see what the rest of 2012 holds for me and all of you! Have a great weekend!

The Lonely Wife Project - Nailed

And I thought glittery nails were daring. Multi-medium artist Dzine chronicles nail design in the new book “Nailed: The History of Nail Culture and Dzine.”

“The art of sprucing up our fingertips began in China in 3000 B.C. Later, women of the Chinese Ming Dyntasy donned artificial nails to separate themselves from manual laborers, and 18th century Greek ladies wore pistachio shells on their hands. Since then, we’ve seen plastic white tips, rhinestone flowers and punny polish names to cover the entire spectrum of color.”

Holiday. Celebrate.

I used to be amazing at taking pictures. To the point where people were angry I took so many. Now I suck! I am for sure going to try and do better in 2012! These are the only two pictures that were taken from New Years Eve. These were both taken from my boyfriends’ iPhone (I live vicariously through him & his iPhone since I got rid of my phone and decided to just stick with my work blackberry).
LEFT: is of me cutting out the champagne jello shots I made. They were AMAZING. And I don’t even like grape flavored desserts.
RIGHT: My boyfriend & I at our hotel before heading out. (how classic, bathroom pic) SMH!

New Years Eve eve. Out in Broad RippleVillage . It was raining and I had no umbrella so I had to use my new scarf to cover myself which of course turned into a photoshoot.

Yummy homemade Butter Christmas cookies w/ homemade cream cheese icing my mom & I made. These didn't last very long!

I have been wanting a furry friend for the longest time now. This was a rescue dogmy neighbors gave me for Christmas. She is a 3 year old Terrier mix. I decided not to keep her since I have been wanting a puppy. But she was a great little dog, so very sweet.

MIMI + MEG: GUIDE TO PARE DOWN YOUR WARDROBE

"I've mentioned before that I'm really good at keeping my wardrobe rather small in comparison to most of my lady friends. It started in college when my friends would go on a mission trip every spring break, and you could donate clothing to them that they would take and give to people who really needed it. Makes going through your t-shirts a lot easier when you ask yourself, me or a person that actually needs it? So I try to keep that in mind to this day. I also hate having a bunch of stuff I don't wear, especially now that I live in a small condo, and not a house.

There are some exceptions to the list. Obviously I would never advise you to sell your grandmother's fur coat (or insert-special-item-here) just because you didn't wear it last year (duh!). But hello, wear it! Don't wait for an occasion to wear your nice things, create an occasion. I can honestly say, I have never gotten rid of anything that I wish I still had. I keep a few pieces of special clothing that I want to pass down to my children someday, classic pieces, nice dresses, or special items, but you have to make sure that you don't consider everything special. You can part with a lot more than your realize."

I def need to do some organizing to my closet this year. I found it funny by her asking if you seriously need more than one drawer full of t-shirts. That is so me. I have possibly 4. That is an issue. 2012 I will do better!
